We are constantly evaluating new products and materials to ensure that we can bring new possibilities to our designs without compromising quality. Because we guarantee the quality and workmanship of our products, we limit the manufacturers and materials that we are willing to use. The products and materials listed below comprise the list of those we are willing to work with. Should you require a deviation from this list, please contact us.
- Woods for bodies, necks, fret boards - Walnut, Maple, Mahogany, Alder, Swamp Ash, Koa, Ebony, Rosewood (others available by request)
- Nuts - Bone, Manmade Bone, Graphite, Tusk, Manmade Tusk, Water Buffalo Horn (please do not request plastic or Corian)
- String Trees - Roller or Graphite
- Frets - Nickel / Silver or Stainless Steel
- Pickups - MCP, Duncan, Gibson (Plan 916 Custom Pickups available in December of 2011)
- Tuners - Schaller, Gotoh, Fender Hardtail Style
- Pots - Bourne's or CTS - Military Spec
- Caps - Sprague Orange Drops
- Switches - Switchcraft
- Knobs - Metal only
- Tremolos - Genuine Floyd Rose or Wilkinson/Gotoh
- Shielding - All Plan 916 guitars come with 3X shielding standard
Paint and Other Coatings
Plan 916 can provide paint, stain, and tung oil finishes. All Prime and Build coats utilize polyester or enamel leveraging PPG DBU. Clear coating is done in PPG or PCL. We offer real metalflake from the 1960's batches (yes, we have them) as well as candy, ghosting, and multi-stage paint. Every paint job from Plan 916 is guaranteed to be Show Quality. |
